Texas Private Security Classes

Start today and complete the required training for your Texas Private Security License!

Private Security in the State of Texas is administered by the Regulatory Services Division of the Texas Department of Public Safety. They offer three distinct levels of certification which include:

  • Level 2 (non-commissioned security officer) – these are unarmed, uniformed officers whose training consists of only a classroom portion. This training can be fully completed ON-LINE.
  • Level 3 (commissioned security officer) – these are armed, uniformed officers who are permitted to carry firearms, as well as personal weapons such as pepper spray, baton, and conductive energy weapons. Their training is accomplished through a combination of both an ON-LINE classroom portion and an IN-PERSON practical portion.
  • Level 4 (personal protection officer) – these are armed, “plain clothes” officers and must conceal their firearm. Currently, both the classroom and practical portions of this training must be completed IN-PERSON.
