License to Carry (LTC) Classes

Great news, obtaining your Texas License To Carry is an easy process! Take a look at our short video for all the details.


The License to Carry process in Texas involves two components:

1) Classroom Portion
(on-line or in-person)

2) Shooting Proficiency Test
(live fire at the gun range)

Otherwise you can choose between the two different formats:

OPTION 1: In-Person and On-Line Blended Course ($120)

  • Complete the classroom portion on-line, then schedule the Shooting Proficiency Test at a time of your choosing.
  • You have up to 6 months to complete the on-line course once you begin.

OPTION 2: Private In-Person Group Course ($150 per person, minimum of 3 persons)

  • This option is for a Private Course, taught exclusively for yourself and your group of associates.
  • Complete the classroom portion in-person (state-mandated 4 hours) at our facility, then schedule the Shooting Proficiency Test at a time of your choosing.

  • NOTE: Short-notice, Private 1-on-1 courses, and classes held at your location are also available. Contact us for details.

IMPORTANT DETAILS FOR BOTH OPTIONS:

  • NOTE: the LTC Shooting Test is for experienced shooters. If you are inexperienced please consider taking a Private Lesson to better prepare yourself.
  • AMMUNITION – You will need a total of 50 rounds, your firearm, plus eye and ear protection to complete the shooting test.
  • RANGE – We conduct the shooting portion of these classes at Red’s Indoor Range, located at 1908 W Pecan St, Pflugerville, TX 78660. You are responsible for the $20 / person range fee paid to Red’s.
  • FINAL STEP: after taking our course, complete the DPS State Application on-line and submit your certificate of training by clicking here.

Upon completing the classroom portion, shooting proficiency test, fingerprints and submitting your certificate of training to the DPS, your license should arrive in the mail in approximately 3-4 weeks.
